"Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as being in control of everything. Riches and honor come from you alone, and you are the Ruler of all mankind; your hand controls power and might, and it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength." 1Chron. 29:11-12. (our memory verses for this week.)
It's 9:20 in the morning, and for some strange reason my children are still sleeping. I, being the good mother that I am, just checked to make sure they were still breathing. They are, just in case you are wondering. So, I realized a little while ago that not only did I get have time for my quiet time, but I could go ahead and do my Bible study now instead of waiting until nap time. John and I just started the Crown Financial bible study at our church and it's only week two but the content is amazing. I love being reminded over and over that our possessions are not OUR possessions, that we are to be good stewards of the things we have. I know this Bible study is mainly about finances (which we really need help with), but God is reminding me constantly through these scriptures that I need to be a better steward of my children (who are His) and my body (which is His) and my husband.
I have been constantly amazed by God the past few weeks. John and I have several times in the last few years talked about how it's nice to have a good paycheck every month, but we missed the faith-life of totally depending on God like we were doing in Canada. Well, apparently God heard us, ha. Even though we have not had a job the last four weeks we have food, shelter, insurance, and we've not gotten behind on our bills. That is amazing. Truly.
We sold our car that we had been trying to sell for six months. God knew the perfect timing. Three times now people who DID NOT know our true situation have given us money just when we needed it. The last one truly amazed me. We got a letter last week that said this family usually collects all their change throughout the year and then goes out with their kids on new years eve but this year they didn't get to go out and they had been debating over what to do with it. So, the husband, who is pre-Christian (I call him this because I truly believe Christ will win his heart) suggested they send it to us. God used someone who does not yet profess Him as Lord to provide us with $500.00!
Yesterday I got a call from the Chiropractic clinic that most of John's family here goes to, asking if I wanted a three week job! They need someone to fill in for three weeks and then be available as a substitute if their office girl is sick or has to take a day off. Heck yeah! The funny thing is my neck has been really messed up the whole time we've been here and Mrs. Sheila keeps telling me I need to go to him, but I haven't because of money. What are the benefits to this job....free Chiropractic care!!!!! So, starting Monday I will be the office assisstant at Dr. Keller's for the next three weeks. My first 9-5 job in a while. I couldn't do this if it were permanent, I feel truly called to be home with my kids, but for the next three weeks, when John hasn't found a job yet, this is nothing but God providing for our financial needs as well as my neck issues!
It's funny, when we were in Canada I think there was always in the back of our mind somewhere that God was providing for us because of where we were or what we were doing. Here it's just because He loves us. He loves us. He loves us!!! It's funny how we forget that sometimes. Do you? It's amazing when we're reminded.
