Just For Fun Fridays Link-up AND a Giveaway!!!!

It's Friday! I don't know about you, but I am ready for the weekend. As a home schooler, I am ready for some non-school days!!! Everything in me wants to start the weekend TODAY, but then I remember that my kids DO need to learn to read and write, and I would really like them to NOT still be in Kindergarten and 1st Grade when they are 22. So, the books will be cracked open as soon as my daughter wakes up. It's almost 10 AM, ahhh the beauty of homeschooling....
How was your week? Filled with life's highs and lows? This week has been marked by several things for me. One was a return of some of my panic disorder issues. My "experiment" of going off my medication is starting to really get in my face and say "What are you going to do about it?" I'm determined to give it a really good TRY at lifestyle change, and this week it has absolutely AMAZED me the difference between the days I exercise and the days I don't. It is night and day, really.
No worries, I'm nowhere close to needing medication, I just apparently lived in some fairytale land where all my ills were cured and I would never have this feeling in my chest again.
It's also been a week of restarting school for us. The flu that knocked us down two weeks ago really wrecked our home school schedule. How in the world do people stay on schedule???? I really do ponder this - Are there really any home school mom's that stay on course all the time, or is that just a myth perpetuated by all these unicorns-and-rainbows home school blogs I read?
I'VE DECIDED TO DO A
GIVEAWAY!!!!
You know why I made that bold??? Because I know sometimes people who are linking just scroll down to the linky party - if that's you I hope you stopped at "Giveaway"!!!!!
I recently finished the book Every Body Matters by Gary Thomas and had that "OH wow, I wish every one I knew would read this book!" feeling, so I've decided to help out at least one of you! How do you enter the giveaway?

So, now for the PARTY!!!!
Link to whatever post you like! What's your favorite from the week? What's the one that your heart went into the most? We want to know!

Home school moms are ALWAYS on schedule regardless. Because we can CHANGE the schedule to fit our changing needs. So in your case, you ARE on schedule. One of my besties home educates and she is hyped because her boys are finishing the book work three weeks early this year.
ReplyDeleteOh, I needed that! Thank you! You're right, we're on OUR schedule, which I wish was like your friends boys...but is more like threes behind right now....darn flu.
DeleteAmy, this is her first year in 6 years that she has finished ahead of schedule. I schooled year round, so we weren't tied down to a schedule. Every 9 weeks, we took off 3 weeks. But during the summer, I was able to include swim lessons as PE, the history museum as a history class, trips out to the farm as biology. That helped fill up his schedule as well. But you know what? If your kiddos were in public school, they would have had to cram to do their missed assignments AND keep up with where their classmates were. I bet you let them recover from their illnesses and then picked up where they left off last...so it was so much easier for them and ultimately for you too.
DeleteI finally linked up today because I finally wrote another blog post this week! :) Also, I follow you in every possible way. Except I'm not a stalker. Really, I'm not.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would never think that of you. As long as you don't think that of me......hehe.
DeleteI linked up! here's my email: asimersky at hotmail dot com. I'm a follower too:)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!

DeleteI just linked together two brown-haired Amys!! Can the world handle that much awesomeness?? Only time will tell. I'm a newbie so my post is about my first week and a half of blogging. BTW - your Chicago coffee cup makes me miss that great city.
ReplyDeleteThe world is not prepared for us!
DeleteJust wanted to share that I am in the weaning off process of going off of my antidpressant. I have been on Prestiq for 2 1/2 years (on other meds for 3 1/2 years) and am sick of taking these pills. I am not in the same place in my life as I was 6 years ago. I believe that God is going to help me make this transition. So far I have only had some mild withdrawal - panicky, heart racing, sweats, sleepy, dizziness, and scatter-brained - oh, wait, that is normal for me, lol! Hang in there. I am sure if you are supposed to be off of your meds, God will make it happen.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim, stick with it - the withdrawal symptoms DO go away after a little while! It took me about two weeks to start to feel "normal" again. We'll hang in there together!
DeleteI like that! We can do this! :D
DeleteI linked to your blog. My email is justjewelrybykim@gmail.com. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Do I hear you on the panic and the exercise. I actually laughed today. For no reason. After I recovered from my run. LOL :D Going to link up....
ReplyDeleteI am following your blog. Wasn't sure how you wanted me to follow so I used Google connect, Twitter, and signed up for email updates and put you on my Google reader - now I am a stalker, lol!
ReplyDeletejustjewelrybykim@gmail.com
Haha, I also stalk several people so I do not discriminate. Thanks for all the following!
DeleteAnd, I am following you on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, thank you so much for your insights...they have been my sanity the last few days...I feel like we're on similar paths.
ReplyDeleteI shared a link to my blog, http://etsyinreallife.com, as one of my entries. That book sounds like a really good help!

Thanks Malaika! It's always nice to know someone is on a similar path as you, even if it's a bumpy one!
DeleteHi there! I just found your blog. I wanted to tell you that I went off anxiety medication about 8 months ago or so. The first month or so was the worst! I felt like I was having worse anxiety than ever and it seemed unbearable. It finally settled down and the Lord lead me to Beth Moore's book on Praying God's Word. That book, about breaking spiritual strongholds, really identified areas of scripture and ways to pray that really got my anxiety in check for the first time in my life. I was letting anxiety have the biggest part of my heart, where Christ should have been. It feels great to feel better. I hope everything keeps going well for you. :)

DeleteThank you for that encouragement, Tess. I have that book on my bookshelf and have never read it, I guess it's going to have to be next! Glad to know that your journey with anxiety is better, the Lord is faithful!
DeleteI liked my blog Amy, as I always delight to do!! :) Workingkansashomemaker@gmail.com

Linked a post. Thanks for hosting the giveaway, and for visiting! =)
ReplyDeleteAlso liked you on Facebook, as Michelle "B".
ReplyDeleteYou can contact me at my blog. Blessings!
So nice to find your link-up through the Allume writers site on Facebook :) Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteI linked and I liked! At least I *THINK* I did it right! When I tried to do my linkup for some reason it lists my name instead of my Post Title. Can't figure out how to change that. Oh well! Can't blame the "Beast in the Machine" because that "beast" is Me! :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have found you on Better Writers. I linked! ... and I love Gary Thomas. We've been giving his marriage devotional away to small group members and friends for years. Thanks for the recommend. Blessings!
