I was suffocating in a wasteland of uselessness over the Summer.
So, yesterday we broke out the new school books, notebooks and pencils (who doesn't love buying new school supplies?) and dug in.
Yes, I know my son's shirt is a little pretentious, but I have high hopes for him.
I love schedules, lists, routine, binders full of calendars and to-dos, my OCD tendencies dance in delight this time of year. The only problem is that most of those things are only ideas that never really come to fruition.
This year we move on to a whole new level of parenting, the level where the children actually get involved. Cub scouts, sports, Awanas, piano lessons, and various other endeavors have definitely given me a routine, just an insanely crazy one.
I can't figure out how to get involved in one of my churches Life Groups. Where does that factor in? How do we get it all done, people? Answer me if you know!
As I stuff another graham cracker into my mouth and sip my decaf, I ponder feeling useful the last three days and how much it makes me happy. How about you? Do you enjoy routineless freedom, or do you need a schedule? And anyone who has answers as to how to do it all without imploding into a hermit hiding in the closet, please let me know!

Oh, Amy, you make us laugh (in a gentle "with you" way, of course!) and we hear your voice, loud and clear.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on this new season, Colossal Adventurer! We miss you and think of you often.
Keep lookin' up.
Love,
R&E, up north--way up north ;)
You just described my life. I NEED structure, discipline, planning & stability. Too bad, I'm my own worst enemy. Preach on, Sister...preach on!
